EFDA Review (Clinical)

EFDA Review – August 13 & August 14, 2015

This course is designed to prepare the RDH or CDA for the EFDA certification examination administered by the Commission on Dental Testing in Ohio.  The course involves laboratory/clinical review only.  (A didactic review session may be offered upon request.)

When registering for this course, participants will have the option to select the one-day or two-day option.

Both days will include a "mock board" experience, simulating the testing experience.

Attire:
Please wear scrubs and a lab coat.  Shoes must be non-permeable to sharp objects and the top of the foot must be completely covered.  Be prepared for warm or cold conditions.  All participants MUST have safety glasses with side shields.

Bring:
KILGORE TYPODONT with a full complement of UNPREPARED TEETH and ALL INSTRUMENTS and SUPPLIES you plan to use for the board examination.

Local Anesthesia for the Dental Hygienist

This course for dental hygienists in the state of Ohio will cover the basic concepts of the administration of local anesthesia. This self-study, lecture, hands-on course is designed to prepare the participant for the safe and effective administration of local anesthesia and pain control. Participants will complete 13 hours of on-line self-study prior to attending the 16 hour lecture and hands-on sessions. Participants will be taught in the Ohio State University College of Dentistry under the supervision of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery faculty and Dental Hygiene faculty.  All participants will give and receive injections and will be asked to complete a consent form and provide proof of current vaccinations prior to attending.

Dental Sealants for the Certified Dental Assistant

This course is designed to prepare the certified dental assistant to properly apply dental sealants in the dental practice. Participants should bring a sample of the sealant material used in your office and bring as many extracted teeth as you can in a sterilization pouch.

This board approved lecture/hands-on course satisfies the 8 hour CE requirement from the Ohio State Dental Board for CDA's to perform this function.

*During the clinical portion of the course, students will be both operator and patient as you will practice the techniques on a classmate.

Following course completion, participants may apply for a Coronal Polishing certificate from the State Dental Board.  (You may not perform this function until you have received the certificate from the Board.)
