College of Dentistry Professor Nancy Clelland, DMD, MS, was drawn to Prosthodontics as a specialty due to the art involved, as painting has been her life-long hobby. Currently, she is displaying her artistic skill at the Springfield Museum of Art. Her oil painting, Prairie au Printemps (Prairie in Springtime), is one of more than 100 paintings on view through February 22, 2015.

“I frequently join several friends at various parks in Columbus to paint outside,” said Dr. Clelland. “This painting was done on location using oil paints at Whetstone Park of Roses in the spring of 2014.”

Dr. Clelland studied Chinese Brush Painting for several years with Louisa Yee of Pittsburgh, PA as well as western watercolor with Fred Graff of Medina, OH. She was introduced to plein air (outdoor) oil painting by Joe Lombardo after enrolling in his Fundamentals Class at the Cultural Arts Center in Columbus.
