Advanced Standing for Internationally Trained Dentists
The Ohio State University College of Dentistry proudly offers an International Dentist Track within the DDS program to provide a pathway for internationally trained dentists to earn US licensure. This 28-month advanced standing curriculum integrates IDT students into the existing DDS program beginning in the spring semester of the second year.
Application Requirements
Interested students can apply through the Centralized Application for Advanced Placement for International Dentists (CAAPID) application.
Required materials for admissions:
- Dental degree official transcripts
- English Proficiency Minimum requirements:
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) minimum score of 90 (before January 2026) or 4.5 (after January 2026) or,
- International English Language Testing System (IELTS) minimum score of 6.5 or,
- Duolingo minimum score of 125
- Passing score on either the Integrated National Board Dental Examination (INBDE) or Part 1 and 2 of the National Board Dental Examination (NBDE)
- Letters of Recommendation
- Interview
- Bench skill test
- CV
- Written personal statement
Admission is selective and competitive. The inaugural class will enroll four students (Spring 2027). Subsequent years will seek eight students.
