Endodontics Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor

The College of Dentistry at The Ohio State University seeking applicants for a full-time clinical track faculty member at the rank of assistant or associate professor in the Division of Endodontics. The primary responsibilities for this position will be contributing to didactic and clinical instruction in the predoctoral and graduate programs of the division. Other duties include supporting the overall mission of the division, practicing in the college’s intramural/extramural Dental Faculty Practice, participating in university and college governance, and contributing to the college’s continuing education program.

Comprised of ten divisions, the college supports seven advanced education programs accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation, in addition to residency training programs in general practice and dental anesthesiology. The college also benefits from a National Institutes of Health T32 award that supports its PhD in oral biology program
The Division of Endodontics is recognized for its excellence in teaching, research, and professional service. With three Board Certified full-time faculty and twelve part-time faculty members, the division offers a vibrant environment for endodontic instruction at all levels. Demonstrated state and national leadership by the endodontics faculty influences the development of the specialty within the academic and practice communities. And, the division’s international reputation in dental local anesthesia and pain management provides opportunities for students, residents, and faculty to engage in clinically relevant research.
Candidates must have a DDS/DMD degree and a certificate of advanced education in endodontics from a CODA-accredited institution. They also must be eligible for a regular or limited teaching license by the Ohio State Dental Board. Information on state dental licensure is available at dental.ohio.gov/Licensure/Dentist.aspx. Board certification or board eligibility by the American Board of Endodontics is also highly desirable. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in dental education and an MS, PhD, EdD, or other advanced degree.
The successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a desire to create an environment that promotes collegiality and collaboration among members of various education, research, service, and cultural communities. A willingness to serve as a role model and advocate for the ideals of professionalism and high ethical standards in a health science educational setting is essential.
