The College of Dentistry at The Ohio State University is seeking applications for two full-time clinical and/or tenure track faculty positions at the rank of assistant/associate professor in the Division of Restorative Science and Prosthodontics. The primary responsibility for these positions will be didactic and clinical instruction in the predoctoral fixed, removable and implant prosthodontics curricula, with additional academic opportunities in advanced education program of the division. Other duties include supporting the overall mission of the division, participating in university and college governance, contributing to the college’s continuing education programs, and practicing in the college’s affiliated intramural Dental Faculty Practice.
As an R1 research-intensive university with seven health science colleges on its campus, Ohio State provides the optimum environment for the College of Dentistry to meet is tripartite mission of education, research, and service. The college distinguishes itself nationally by engaging faculty throughout the campus, around the state, and across the country in a host of experiences that provide enriching opportunities. The College of Dentistry is Ohio’s only state-supported dental school, and it educates more than 60% of the state’s dentists. Comprised of ten divisions, the college supports seven advanced education programs accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation, in addition to residency training programs in general practice and dental anesthesiology. The college also benefits from a National Institutes of Health T32 award that supports its PhD in oral biology program
The college is in the process of replacing its pre-doctoral classrooms, simulation clinic, and patient care facilities. Each will be equipped with the latest in digital technologies that enhance student learning, improve efficiencies of operation, and facilitate patient care. Eight small group practice clinics that focus on comprehensive care will provide an optimal environment for dental and dental hygiene students to work in an integrated model for delivering health care.
Candidates must have a DDS/DMD degree or equivalent degree and a certificate of advanced education in prosthodontics from a CODA-accredited program. They also must be eligible for a regular or limited teaching license by the Ohio State Dental Board. Information on state dental licensure is available at dental.ohio.gov/Licensure/Dentist.aspx. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the application of advanced digital technology in dental education and an MS, PhD, EdD, or other advanced degree. Board certification by the American Board of Prosthodontics is desirable. A tenure track appointment requires candidates to demonstrate a record of research, scholarly works, and teaching excellence.
