College Hosts Semi-Annual Give Kids A Smile Day

It was a particularly beautiful day on September 14 when students, residents, faculty, and staff volunteered their morning hours to provide free dental exams, cleanings, extractions, fillings, and crowns to 96 children during the College of Dentistry’s semi-annual Give Kids A Smile day.

The sunshine outside couldn’t match the bright smiles inside of families who received over $36,000 worth of treatment.

“Our students continue to amaze me with the skill and enthusiasm they bring to this day,” said Erin Gross, ’09 DDS, ’09 PhD, ’11 MS, assistant professor-clinical, Division of Pediatric Dentistry, who serves as the faculty advisor for the student leadership team that plans the events. “They put an enormous amount of effort into organizing and publicizing this event. I’m grateful for their continued commitment to the children in our community who are most in need.”
