ASDA Students Join ADA Dentist and Student Lobby Day
On March 29th, dental students who are members of American Student Dental Association (ASDA) joined members of the Ohio Dental Association on a trip to Washington, D.C. for the American Dental Association’s (ADA) Dentist and Student Lobby Day. The trip was organized by the ADA and ASDA, providing eight dental students with the opportunity to participate, including the college’s ASDA leaders – Abby Musgrave, Legislative Liaison, and McKenna Bockrath, President of Ohio State’s ASDA chapter.
The purpose of the students’ participation in the ADA Dentist and Student Lobby Day was to meet with legislators and attend a conference that shared ways for dental professionals to have an impact on their local communities. Three issues were at the forefront: Understanding Community Water Fluoridation (CWF); Supporting Dental Residents with the Resident Education Deferred Interest Act; and Ensuring Fair Dental Insurance Practices with the Dental and Optometric Care (DOC) Access Act.
