College of Dentistry Launches Comprehensive Demographic Survey
On Monday, March 22, the College of Dentistry launched a comprehensive demographic survey to better understand the make-up of its community. The survey was designed after months of research and discussion by the College of Dentistry’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Workgroup that is comprised of students, staff, and faculty. The workgroup consulted with Ohio State’s Office of Institutional Research and Planning, the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, the Office of Institutional Equity, and the Office of University Compliance and Integrity.
The anonymous survey seeks answers to a wide range of questions, including gender identities, ethnic groups and marital status, as well as native language, military service, whether or not respondents’ parents or grandparents went to college, and much more.
“An important step in cultivating a diverse and inclusive environment is understanding the current level of diversity among the members of our college community,” said Dean Patrick Lloyd. “The data collected from this survey will provide a baseline for measuring the impact of the college’s future diversity initiatives, and it will help our leadership team to better support the needs of our college community.”
The survey closes on March 31. Results will be presented to students, residents, staff, and faculty at a virtual town hall meeting for their review and impressions.
