Daniel Leach, DMD, Honored with Board of Trustees' Student Recognition Award
Dr. Daniel Leach, a resident in the college's Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) advanced education program, recently received The Ohio State University Board of Trustees' Student Recognition Award at a ceremony held November 4. Dr. Leach was honored for his commitment to excellence in his residency training and in the care he provides for patients.
A graduate of the Medical University of South Carolina College of Dental Medicine, Dr. Leach was selected as the OMFS Chief Resident, an honor that further distinguishes his performance in the intensive four-year program that includes clinical rotations at Ohio State's Wexner Medical Center and Nationwide Children's Hospital. During those four years, each resident receives training in internal medicine, general anesthesia, pediatric surgery, surgical intensive care, emergency medicine, plastic and reconstructive surgery, and head and neck cancer surgery.
Commenting on the award, Dean Patrick Lloyd said, "Dr. Leach has demonstrated his talent and expertise, and he has also stated that he intends to take the amazing training he received at Ohio State back to his home state of South Carolina." Lloyd added, "There is no greater testimonial to the excellence of our OMFS residency and Dr. Leach's outstanding performance in that program. I expect to hear great things about him in the future, and we are proud to count him as one of our own."
