Faculty Collaboration Results in Richman Award from the American Academy of Periodontology
Dr. Shin-Jung (Amber) Hsieh is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Orthodontics. She earned her DDS and Master of Science in Dentistry degrees from Kaohsiung Medical University in Taiwan. She then completed a residency at the National Taiwan University Hospital where she received a certificate in periodontics. Continuing her professional education, Dr. Hsieh earned a Master of Science degree and a certificate in orthodontics from Columbia University's College of Dental Medicine. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics.
Dr. Yi-Chu Wu is an Assistant Professor-Clinical in the Division of Periodontology. She is a graduate of Columbia University's College of Dental Medicine, where she received a Master of Science degree and a certificate in periodontology. Prior to that, she earned a DDS degree from Taipei Medical University in Taiwan, after which she completed a General Practice Residency program at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, also in Taiwan. Dr. Wu is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology.
Collaborating on their mutual clinical research interests, Drs. Hsieh and Wu recently received a Richman Award from the American Academy of Periodontology Foundation. The award is given to researchers for their contributions to perio/ortho interphase research. Drs. Hsieh and Wu were recognized for their work that investigates the impact of orthodontic treatments on the periodontium.
