Faculty Members Receive ODA Award for RAM Event Leadership

Four faculty members in the college will receive the Ohio Dental Association’s “Access to Dental Care Program Awards” on September 26 at the Callahan Celebration of Excellence. The award recognizes the faculty members’ efforts in organizing and leading the college’s participation in the Remote Area Medical (RAM) Volunteer Corps event last year that provided dental and medical care for underserved members of the local community.

The award recipients are Dr. James Cottle, Division of Dental Public Health faculty member, and Dr. Leonardo Nassani, Division of Restorative and Prosthetic Dentistry; Ms. Elizabeth Chartier, Division of Dental Hygiene; and Dr. Fonda Robinson, Associate Dean for Clinic Administration and Patient Care.

Drs. Cottle, Nassani, and Ms. Chartier served as co-chairs of the college's committee that organized and supervised the RAM event volunteers. And Dr. Robinson served as the college's clinical consultant. Throughout the two-day event, the college's volunteers provided 212 extractions, 160 fillings, and 155 dental cleanings for participants in need of dental care.
