Hsun-Liang Chan, DDS, MS, and Yi-Chu Wu, DDS, MS, Awarded Grant from Delta Dental for Peri-implantitis Research
The College of Dentistry’s Division of Periodontology recently received a more than $173,000 grant award from Delta Dental to support an investigation titled “Operating Microscope versus Traditional Loupes during Regeneration Therapy for Peri-implantitis: A Randomized Controlled Trial with Ultrasonographic and Biomarkers Evaluation.” The 12-month grant supports Drs. Hsun-Liang (Albert) Chan and Yi-Chu Wu’s research on peri-implantitis treatment results under different magnifications. As a part of the research project, the division will incorporate new technologies including Dental Ultrasound and microscopic surgeries.
“Peri-implantitis treatment remains an enigma in the field of dentistry,” Dr. Chan said. “Our goal is to incorporate advanced technologies to assess clinical outcomes in addition to the current body of evidence.”
“We are grateful to Delta Dental for this funding, which will help propel our knowledge in peri-implantitis treatment,” Dr. Wu added.
