Khaled Altabtbaei, DDS, MS, Wins Balint Orban Award
Dr. Khaled Altabtbaei, an oral biology PhD student, won the Balint Orban Memorial Program competition at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP).
The Balint Orban Memorial Program provides a forum for presentations of clinical and basic science research in periodontology. Named in honor of Dr. Balint Orban, an AAP member who was influential in developing the scientific foundations of contemporary periodontics, this competition is open to periodontology residents/researchers in accredited programs throughout the U.S. and Canada.
Dr. Altabtbaei was one of eight finalists selected to compete for this prestigious award. His winning presentation was titled "Generalized Aggressive Periodontitis: A Periodontal Chimera." Dr. Altabtbaei's faculty mentor is Purnima Kumar, BDS, MS, PhD, a professor in the Division of Periodontology.
