Kyulim Lee, DMD, MS, PhD Receives AAPD “Under 10 Award”

Dr. Kyulim Lee is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Pediatric Dentistry, and she is a member of the pediatric dental team at Nationwide Children's Hospital. Dr. Lee recently was recently selected as an inaugural recipient of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry’s “Under 10 Award.” Newly developed by the Academy’s “Early Career Pediatric Dentistry Committee,” the award honors exceptional young professionals who demonstrate excellence in pediatric dentistry through clinical practice, research, leadership, academia, advocacy, or service.

Dr. Lee’s education includes a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Florida College of Dentistry and a Master of Science degree and certificate in pediatric dentistry from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry. Continuing her dental professional education, Dr. Lee earned a PhD in microbiology and immunology from the University of Florida College of Medicine.

In addition to her work as a clinician, Dr. Lee is also a researcher whose interests focus on bacterial genetics/genomics and microbial ecology, as well as the oral microbiome in pediatric patients undergoing hematopoietic cell transplant. Last year, she received an R03 award for $327,492 from the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research that supports her research.
