Lancaster Receives 2014 Ryan Turner Memorial Scholarship

Lydia Lancaster

Lydia Lancaster '16 has been selected by the American Student Dental Association (ASDA) Board of Trustees as the recipient of the 2014 Ryan Turner Memorial Scholarship. Lancaster will receive a $2,500 scholarship and funding to attend ASDA's National Leadership Conference, Oct. 31-Nov. 2 in Chicago.

The scholarship is given in memory of Ryan Turner who was an ASDA national leader and fourth year dental student at the University of Michigan when he passed away in 2007. It honors those who have demonstrated the same leadership qualities and characteristics Turner exhibited through his service to ASDA.

"During my time in ASDA, 'The best can always be better' has become my motto," said Lancaster. "Leadership is about the example that he or she sets. I hope that my work encourages current and future leaders to always strive to improve dentistry. ASDA is now part of who I am. It gives me great pride to be actively part of this organization."

Lancaster currently serves as vice president of The Ohio State ASDA chapter and District 6 legislative liaison. She is a student consultant for the Ohio Dental Association Council on Access to Care & Public Service and liaison to the ASDA Columbus Dental Society.
