Matthew Messina, DDS, Quoted on MoneyWatch

Dr. Matthew Messina, an Assistant Professor-Practice in the Division of General Practice and Materials Science, was quoted in an article that appeared on the CBS News financial website, MoneyWatch, on December 3rd.

The article titled "Life is a grind, and even more so for your teeth," discussed health-related implications associated with "teeth grinding" behaviors, as well as dental treatments that may prevent damage to the teeth. Dr. Messina described options for eliminating teeth-grinding behaviors to prevent long-term dental problems that may require significant intervention. Messina said,"You have to break the habit that's causing the grinding and the pain before it becomes chronic." He added, "We expect our teeth to last us from ages eight to 80. That's a long time."

Dr. Messina is the Director of the College of Dentistry's clinic at the Wexner Medical Center's Outpatient Care Upper Arlington facility. He also serves as a consumer adviser for the American Dental Association.
