Mentoring Program Connects Alumni and Students

Mentors and mentees seated at a dinner table

Alumni and students came together for a dinner as part of the Dean’s Alumni/Student Mentoring Program. Alumni mentors and student mentees met in person to build connections.

The goals of the program are:

  • Give students access to alums who can offer guidance, advice, and support.
  • Help students grow their networks and build on what they learn in class.
  • Help students search for jobs when they graduate.
  • Helps alum stay connected to the college.
  • Allow alums to make an impact on future oral health professionals.

Become a mentor

A highlight of the evening was Peter Tsatalis, a second-year dental student, who spoke about the impact of the program. He shared that “while the challenges of our profession can feel overwhelming at times, a strong, honest, and exemplary mentor can illuminate the path forward and remind us why we chose this calling in the first place.” Peter is mentored by Dr. Monte Masonbrink.
