Michelle Scott Featured in Ohio State's "Research Commons" Publication

Ms. Michelle Scott, a DDS-PhD Fellow in the College of Dentistry, is featured in the recent edition of Ohio State's "Research Commons" publication. Ms. Scott is now in her fourth year of the college's seven-year program that leads to a combined DDS degree and PhD in oral biology.

The "Research Commons" article highlights Ms. Scott as a graduate student whose research project won a top prize at the university's 2020 Edward F. Hayes Graduate Research Forum. Held annually, the forum presents innovative and exemplary research conducted by graduate students across the full range of degree programs. Ms. Scott's project on e-cigarettes'  impact on oral health was selected for the first-place prize in the forum's Health Sciences Poster Presentation.

Working with her faculty advisor Purnima Kumar, BDS, MS, PhD, a professor in the Division of Periodontology, Ms. Scott's research focuses on the oral microbiome and bacteria that affect periodontal health. She will graduate with a DDS degree and a PhD in oral biology in 2024.
