Ms. Caroline Sawicki Receives AADR Student Research Award
Ms. Caroline Sawicki, a student in the college's combined DDS-PhD in oral biology program, recently received a Student Research Fellowship from the American Association for Dental Research (AADR). Ms. Sawicki was one of 16 students nationwide who received awards at the AADR's annual meeting in Vancouver. The AADR's research fellowships are designed to encourage dental students in the U.S. to consider careers in oral health research. Each fellowship includes a cash award and financial support for recipients to present their research at the following year's annual meeting.
Ms. Sawicki's research on microglia in the brain and their impact on immunity, pain, and inflammation was recently published in the Journal of Neuroscience. She will receive her DDS and PhD degrees in 2020.
