MSDH Student Receives Esther Wilkins Scholarship

Ms. Jennifer Barkans, a student in the Master of Science in Dental Hygiene (MSDH) program, has been awarded the Esther Wilkins Scholarship from the American Dental Hygiene Association. The scholarship is given to a graduate student who is dedicated to pursuing a career in dental hygiene education.

In 2013, Jennifer graduated with an associate’s degree from the APLUS Institute in Toronto, Canada. She then earned her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene degree at Ohio State’s College of Dentistry in 2024.
After completing her MSDH degree next year, Jennifer plans to embark on a career in dental hygiene education. She said, “I’m extremely passionate about dental hygiene and I feel that I can share that passion by educating future dental hygienists. I also plan to continue doing research to aid in advancing the profession, as well as working on advocacy projects for scope of practice changes and improving access to oral healthcare services.”
