Postle Hall: Old and New!
In the spring of 1948, the College of Dentistry held a groundbreaking ceremony for the building shown below that was completed in 1951. It was the college’s first-ever “home” of its own.
The new facility was due in large part to the efforts of Dean Wendell Postle. Along with many other advances, he spent years garnering support and funding for a building that would be dedicated to dentistry. Subsequent additions and renovations were made in the late 1950s and early 60s and 70s.
In 1976, the College of Dentistry’s building was named Wendell D. Postle Hall, and an official dedication ceremony was held in April 1977. That event was attended by more than 800 guests among whom were the governor of the State of Ohio; the president of The Ohio State University; and other dignitaries, including state senators, members of the Board of Trustees, faculty emeriti, and Dr. Postle’s family and friends.
More than 60 years after the college’s first facility was constructed, a “partial replacement” for Postle Hall was built and opened in 2020. Known as “Postle B,” the new facility has benefited from continued enhancements and the completion of unfinished spaces that now include a state-of-the-art oral and maxillofacial radiology clinic, and the early construction phase of a simulation laboratory for students.
