Ms. Gilia Rethman Receives Distinguished Alumni Award

Ms. Gilia (Jill) Rethman, BA ’74, recently received the Ohio State Dental Alumni Society’s Distinguished Alumni Award. It recognizes participation, service, and leadership in the advancement of dentistry and dental health at the local, state, national or international levels.

Since graduating from the college’s dental hygiene program in 1974, Ms. Rethman has been a past president of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association and she has published extensively in dental and dental hygiene journals and textbooks. She is also a nationally recognized continuing education speaker, and she holds an assistant professor appointment in the College of Dentistry. Ms. Rethman currently serves as President of the International Federation of Dental Hygienists and is Editor-in-Chief of the national publication titled Dimensions of Dental Hygiene.
