Sara Palmer, BS, PhD, Joins College Faculty
On January 4th, Sara Palmer, PhD, joined the college as an assistant professor in the Division of Biosciences. Dr. Palmer's education includes a BS degree in microbiology from Michigan State University, and a PhD in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Florida in Gainesville. Prior to joining Ohio State, she was a post-doctoral associate in the Department of Oral Biology at the University of Florida.
Dr. Palmer's current research, which is funded by a grant from the National Institutes of Health/National Institute for Dental and Craniofacial Research, is aimed at gaining a better understanding of streptococcal pathogens as they affect the oral cavity. Her findings have been published in such journals as Genome Biology and Evolution,Microbiology, Advanced Dental Research, and PLoS One.
As a faculty member in the Division of Biosciences, she will continue her independent research initiatives, while also providing support for the teaching mission of the division and the college.
