Abraham Schneider, DDS, PhD, Appointed College of Dentistry Associate Dean for Research
Dr. Abraham Schneider has joined The Ohio State University College of Dentistry as associate dean for Research effective November 3, 2025. He previously served as a tenured professor, chair of the Department of Oncology and Diagnostic Sciences and director of the Dental Biomedical Sciences PhH program at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry in Baltimore, Maryland. In his new role, Dr. Schneider oversees all aspects of the college’s research program, including strategy, operations, and resource administration across all college divisions.
Dr. Schneider earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Cayetano Heredia Peruvian University in Lima, Peru. He completed a general dentistry residency at the Eastman Dental Center in Rochester, New York, and a periodontics residency at the University of Connecticut Health Center in Farmington, Connecticut. He earned his PhD in Oral Health Sciences at the University of Michigan.
He has taught extensively at both the pre-doctoral and graduate levels. He currently serves as an elected representative to the joint International Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (IADR) and the American Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (AADOCR) Publications Committee. He is also an editorial board member for the Journal of Dental Research. His National Institutes of Health-funded research focuses on novel tunable metformin-releasing injectable scaffolds to enhance dental pulp stem cell-based craniofacial bone regeneration.
