Sukirth Ganesan, BDS, Wins AAP Research Forum Poster Session Award
Dr. Sukirth Ganesan, a periodontology resident and oral biology PhD candidate, won the Research Forum Poster Session Award in Clinical Science at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP).
A former Balint Orban Memorial Program award winner, Dr. Ganesan is also a past winner of the College of Dentistry's Dean's Award for Excellence in clinical and translational research. Other recognitions include his selection as a regional representative of the National Student Research Group, which is a branch of the American Association for Dental Research.
Dr. Ganesan's winning presentation for the AAP's Research Forum Poster Session Award in Clinical Science was titled "Primed for Disease: Smoking and the Subgingival Microbiome." Dr. Ganesan's faculty mentor is Purnima Kumar, BDS, MS, PhD, a professor in the Division of Periodontology.
