Wittwer Fellowship Awarded to Graduating Residents
The Wittwer Graduate Fellowship fund was established in 1975 by Pauline C. Wittwer, a long-time administrative assistant for the College of Dentistry’s post-graduate programs. The endowed fund provides an annual income of ~$21,000 that is awarded to graduating residents and graduate students who intend to pursue an academic career and have financial need. Recipients are selected through a competitive process by a review committee that includes representatives from the college’s graduate and residency programs. Four fellowship recipients were recently selected from the class of 2025.
The first is Prokopios Argyris, DDS, MS, PhD, a third-year resident/MS student in the advanced education program in oral and maxillofacial pathology. He will join the Head and Neck Pathology Fellowship program in the Department of Pathology at the University of Chicago. The second recipient is Jie Liu, DDS, MS, PhD, a third-year resident/MS student in the advanced education program in orthodontics. She will join the Division of Orthodontics at the University of Colorado’s College of Dentistry as a tenure-track assistant professor. The third recipient is Madeline Malueg, DDS, a third-year resident/MS student in the advanced education program in endodontics. She will join the College of Dentistry as an Assistant Professor in the Division of Endodontics. The final recipient is Nicole Patel, RDH, BS, a graduating Master of Science in Dental Hygiene student who plans to become a dental hygiene program director. All four will receive a portion of the total award.
