Yun Wang, DDS, MS, PhD, Wins AAP Research Forum Poster Session Award
Dr. Yun Wang, an Assistant Professor-Clinical in the Division of Periodontology, won the Research Forum Poster Session Award in Clinical Impact at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP). Her presentation titled "Integrated miRNA and mRNA Expression Profiling to Identify Potential Therapeutic Targets for Gingival Wounds" examines the role of gene expression in gingival wound healing.
With a PhD in cellular and molecular physiology, Dr. Wang's research focuses on periodontal regeneration and wound healing, with a special interest in outcomes for patients with such systemic conditions as osteoporosis and diabetes. Her clinical focus is on dental implants and augmentation; 3D treatment planning for implant-based reconstruction; prevention and management of periodontal disease; and the connection between periodontal disease and systemic health.
A recognized periodontics researcher, Dr. Wang is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology.
