Majored in Music at The Ohio State University.
Why I chose The Ohio State University College of Dentistry:
I attended The Ohio State University for undergrad and I couldn't see myself being anywhere else. I love the staff and faculty and the whole environment and I feel like everyone wants me to succeed.
Why I wanted to become a dentist:
I wanted to become a dentist because I wanted to work closely with people and build that type of relationship while helping others and I loved the hand skills aspect of the profession. Coming from a music background and relying so heavily on my hands made the choice that much easier.
My favorite class has been oral anatomy. There was a lot more to teeth than I thought and learning all of it made me even more excited about dentistry.
3 things people should know about me:
- I love music. I started in the 6th grade with the French horn, played trumpet in jazz bands and have written some of my own music.
- I love being active whether it be working out, rock climbing, hiking, whatever gets me up and going.
- I love being silly and laughing!
What I enjoy doing outside of dental school:
Outside of dental school I enjoy rock climbing, playing guitar, and going on adventures, and spending time with my friends.
Best advice for succeeding in dental school:
The best advice I have for success in dental school is not to worry about grades and focus on learning the concepts and material because that is what is going to matter when you are in the clinic.
What do you wish you would have known as an incoming D1?
I wish I would have known how quickly the material piles up if you take a few days off from studying because you can get behind very quickly and have lots of late nights before the exam trying to catch up.
Plans for after graduation:
After graduation I would love to find a job somewhere in Ohio. I have been in Columbus all of my life and it would be fun to venture out to a different part of the state.
