Hometown:

Port Clinton, Ohio: a small town located on the cost of Lake Erie

Educational background:

B.S. in Biology/Pre-Professional Health Sciences from Otterbein University.

Why I chose The Ohio State University College of Dentistry:

Ohio State was a no-brainer for me. My father graduated from OSU CoD and I always knew it as a top notch educational facility.

Why I wanted to become a dentist:

My father is a dentist and I loved the flexibility he had in his schedule. I also loved hearing about all the things my dad had helped people with in a day's time.

Favorite class:

My favorite class was Fixed 1 with Dr. Kerby. He was a phenomenal professor who really taught me to be confident with a drill for the first time. I feel beyond lucky to be a part of the last class he was able to teach.

3 things people should know about me:

  1. I love to cook! I recently entered a food competition for pies (of which I had never baked a pie in my life) and took home 3rd place!
  2. In undergrad, I did research involving penguins and their genetic diversity.
  3. I have a cat named Kiki, my friends say she is more like a dog than a cat though.

What I enjoy doing outside of dental school:

I love to cook/bake for my friends (they can attest to that!) and I try to read as many non-dental books as I can and also binge watch some TV/Netflix.

Best advice for succeeding in dental school:

The best advice hands down is time management. Make sure you always know when things are due.

What do you wish you would have known as an incoming D1?

I wish I would have known really how difficult dental school is. Don't compare yourself to your classmates; someone who is great at book work and aces all the exams could be struggling with the clinical aspect of things and vice versa. Get a good core group of friends and lean on each other.

Plans for after graduation:

After graduation I plan on going into practice with my father for a few years and then taking over the practice for myself when he retires.
