Volunteer Opportunities

Show your compassion for others by volunteering at the College of Dentistry.

Opportunities are available at the College of Dentistry, The James and Outpatient Care locations. Outpatient locations include The Stefanie Spielman Comprehensive Breast Center, James Outpatient Care, James Outpatient Care Martha Morehouse, and James Outpatient Care Mill Run. 

College of Dentistry Volunteers

Learn more about volunteer opportunities that are intended for undergraduate students currently enrolled at The Ohio State University. 

Volunteer Qualifications

  • We are looking for individuals who have a strong desire to help others.
  • Possess interest in working with and around The Ohio State University College of Dentistry clinics in order to provide a positive experience for patients and their families.
  • Punctuality. Must be able to arrive to scheduled volunteer shift on time.
  • Must possess a friendly disposition when working with patients and/or staff.
  • Must be able to stand and/or walk throughout volunteer shift.

What you will do

  • Volunteers will be placed throughout Postle Hall and will assist patients with finding their clinics/place of appointment.
  • Assisting patients to their clinics may require verbal instruction and/or physically escorting them to their clinic.
  • Depending on the needs of the patient, volunteers may be asked to locate and push the patient in a wheelchair to their desired destination.
  • Volunteers will be in rotation of position throughout Postle during their shift.
Volunteers will NEVER be required or asked to perform the following:
  • Handling of blood or bodily fluids
  • Lifting patients
  • Connecting or disconnecting oxygen
  • Performing hands-on patient care
